the essentials

  • Only your DAW and its plugins

Captures the DAW window and its floating plugins without showing the rest of the desktop; file pickers pause the image.

  • Smooth, in step with OBS

Up to 120 real FPS and synced with OBS: every frame gets a new image, with no stutter.

  • 1:1 resolution and exact colour

GPU composition at 1:1 resolution with faithful sRGB colour, keeping the DAW's own content and menus.

  • Hands off the audio

It doesn't capture or process audio: use dhreLink to bring your DAW's sound into OBS.

VERSION 1.0.0

current

technical details

  • Windows 11 x64 · OBS Studio 30.0 or later.
  • Native OBS source: captures only the selected DAW and its plugins, never the rest of the desktop.
  • Works with any Windows DAW; recognises and lists first Ableton Live, FL Studio, REAPER, Cubase, Nuendo, Studio One, Bitwig, Pro Tools, Reason, Cakewalk, Ardour, Waveform, Mixcraft, Samplitude, Audition, Renoise and others.
  • Follows plugins inside the DAW and in its own hosts and bridges (REAPER, Bitwig, FL Studio, jBridge, BitBridge and sandboxes such as Waveform).
  • GPU composition at 1:1 resolution, lossless, keeping the DAW's own content and menus.
  • Image in step with OBS: every OBS frame gets exactly one new image, also at 59.94 FPS, with no skipped or repeated frames.
  • 30, 60 (default) or 120 FPS, never more than OBS; indicator of effective FPS and latency to OBS; 5 FPS on standby.
  • Exact sRGB colour in OBS, with linear-light scaling, clean edges when scaling up and support for HDR canvases.
  • Plugins are followed instantly as they open, move or close, including those that stick out of the DAW on Windows 11 24H2.
  • Warns about plugins that Windows scales and look blurry, and about DAWs opened as administrator, with a one-click restart of dhreView as administrator.
  • Optional cursor, useful for tutorials.
  • Picks the GPU OBS uses by itself (also on laptops with two graphics cards) and recovers if the driver restarts.
  • Warns if the DAW is minimised or closed; with the DAW minimised, OBS keeps the last frame.
  • Privacy: the DAW's file pickers pause the image, browsers and messaging apps never enter the scene and the shared texture is only accessible to your user.
  • 1.6 MB native app written in Rust, no runtime: about 20 MB of memory, low priority against the DAW's audio and it doesn't wake the system when it isn't capturing.
  • Flat interface with the look of dhreian.com and eqlypse, in Spanish and English.
  • No audio capture or processing; use dhreLink to bring the audio into OBS.
  • .exe installer with app and OBS source in Spanish and English; it asks you to close OBS before installing.
  • Unsigned installer: Windows may show an unknown publisher warning.
